ATNS Early Career Special Interest Group
The Early Career Special Interest Group (SIG) at the Association for the Treatment of Neuroplastic Symptoms supports students, trainees, and early-career professionals in advancing their understanding of neuroplastic symptoms. Through community, education, and mentorship, members gain valuable connections and resources to grow in their careers and the field.
Objectives

Build
Build a community for early career clinicians using ATNS, direct communication with student and trainee programs, and social media.

Teach
Teach pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of neuroplastic symptoms through lectures and journal clubs. (Our first event will be a lecture in Spring 2025 on neuroplastic pelvic pain.)

Advocate
Advocate for education about neuroplastic symptoms by collaborating on ATNS-affiliated podcasts and creating content for ATNS social media.

Connect
Connect interest group members to ATNS mentors who have similar career goals and research interests.

Include
Be inclusive for students, trainees, practicing early career physicians, nurses, PAs, PhDs, social workers, therapists, researchers, physical therapists, coaches, educators, other interested professionals and patient advocates.

Collaborate
Foster interdisciplinary collaboration by encouraging knowledge exchange between early career professionals across various specialties to enhance comprehensive care for neuroplastic symptoms.

Eligibility
Active members of ATNS who are students or trainees, and those in their 20s and 30s pursuing a career in any of the eligible professions listed above.

Our inaugural event “Pelvic Pain is Not "In Your Head": The Science of Neuroplastic Pain” featured presentations from ATNS board member Dr. Rebecca Kennedy and SIG Co-Founder Dr. Jen Romanello. Other virtual events included a meet and greet with Dr. David Clarke and a discussion on the neuroscience of chronic pain.
